Ok, I've had it. I've truly fucking had it! I purchased this toshiba tecra about 6 months ago as a workhorse and all round reliable machine. Tecra's are generally designed for business, on the move type people and it assured durability in all the reviews. It's been on two or three desks since then, moved very infrequently and used basically every day. So now I come to find out, that the harddrive is on the point of failure? It locks up every now and then, I cannot access certain folders, and running chkdsk /f c: twice partially fixed the problem, but its still showing errors when I read back the log! What in the hell is going on? I picked toshiba for reliability and it has been running perfectly until this. What is consumour technology going, guys?

I find laptops in general don't last as long as they're supposed to these days. It's really annoying, and it's such a waste. I don't know if the processors are just too powerful for their own good, or if the companies do this on purpose so you have to buy a new one once or even twice a year, but either way, it's annoying. I've heard, however, that Toshibas are notorious for working perfectly for a year, and then completely crapping out.
